September 24–28
Thank you to all of you that took the time to come to the Open House last week. I am well aware of how hard it is to fit one more activity into your week. I hope you all had a good time and enjoyed the time spent in your child’s room.
Last week our mealworms arrived. All the children were very excited about their new friends. We will be watching their changes and taking care of our mealworms for the next several weeks.
Our Story this week is The Mixed-Up Chameleon. Our vocabulary words will be spotted, hardly, handsome, sparkling, dull, sideways, and exciting.
Spelling words this week are words with long a. They will be train, pay, paint, eight, nail, stay, weigh, sail, wait, away, and maybe.
In math we have been working on trading coins to make 25 cents. When you are shopping ask your child how many ways can they make 25 and what can they trade to make 25 cents with different coins.
The second grade team has put together a visit from Ashland Nature Center to share with the students some creepy crawly creatures. Information about this experience will be coming home in the near future.
Please keep checking your students homework book and folder every night.
Thank you for all that you do to help your child be successful.
