I t was great meeting with all of you last week. thank you again for your time. I am sure you student will benefit from all the efforts you have been putting in to their education.
Last week the Ashland presentation came to our class bring with them many interesting creatures for us to look, touch and feel. here are a few pictures.
On November 20, Ashland will returning with a presentation about Native Americans from our area. They will be allowing the students to dress in native clothing, prepare food, make instruments, and make clay pots. It is a very interesting presentations and the children do love it.
We will be reading about Johnny Appleseed – Johnny Chapman. Our spelling words will be ear- eer words, near, deer, year, rear, clear, hear, beard, spear, fear, dear. cheer, and appear.
Our vocabulary words will be survive, frontier, nearby, wild, tame, which, and orchards.
The story is written in play form so the students will be given parts to read and memorize so that we can put on a short play for our first graders.
In math we are starting a unit on Geometry. The students will be investigating shapes for their faces-sides, and angles-corners.
Our school is also collecting Pennies for Alzheimer’s Association. The students will have a chance to earn prizes by making estimation guesses to see how many pennies were collected for their grade and for the entire school.
